PLAY FOR INTEGRATION - REFUGEES WELCOME

Children who are refugees belong to one of the most vulnerable groups in our society. They and their families have gone through traumatic experiences of persecution and displacement. The loss of a home is one of the greatest traumas for any human being. In their new destination, they often do not understand the language, are unfamiliar with the culture, and lack friends. Entering the education system is particularly challenging and full of obstacles, and access to other social services is often hindered.

This project aims to create a space for play and learning for children and their guardians from both the refugee and local communities. With the support of the City of Zagreb, the Play Center has been established at the Cultural Center Travno, with support from various representatives of the local community. It will begin its activities in November 2024 and will provide support for integration to children at risk of social exclusion twice a week, coordinated by professional practitioners. Alongside our expert coordinators, the center will also host workshops conducted by an additional 40 artists, specialists, and volunteers throughout the project's duration. This welcome program has also received financial support from the City of Zagreb.

The project runs from September 1, 2024, to July 1, 2025.
